About Dr.
Dr. Lara Cavin has more than 13 years of experience in public education, including 8 years as a principal and assistant principal at both elementary and middle schools. Her leadership in K–12 education paved the way for her move into higher education, where she became a full-time faculty member in the Department of Teacher Education at a university in East Texas. While there, she also served as Director of Field Experiences and Certification Officer, guiding future teachers through every stage of their training.
In May 2021, Lara joined 240 Certification as one of its earliest team members and currently serves as the Director of Certification and Compliance. She draws on her extensive background in both public schools and teacher preparation to help aspiring educators navigate the certification process with clarity and confidence.
Lara is also active in professional organizations across Texas that focus on strengthening teacher preparation pathways. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from East Texas Baptist University, a Master of Education and Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at Tyler, and a Doctor of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.
